Roots is awesome, I seriously can't recommend it highly enough!
After the mini crisis I'd had at starting to turn grey around September *sobs* I'd decided that I was going to dye my hair.
I used to dye my hair practically every other week when I was younger, so it shouldn't have seemed so daunting, but as I'd managed to leave my hair alone for three whole years, I'd be messing with truly virgin hair! :O
Seeings how I was struggling with plenty of cosmetic reactions, I looked into henna dyes as a more natural alternative, but sadly it seemed that the chances of me getting a very red based brown were high, which I wanted to avoid, so back to the bottle it was.
I picked up two packs of L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss in 513 Iced Truffle. I had used this product many times before, but I still did the patch test as intructed. There was no irritaion, so I went ahead with the home dye job.
A few days after, my scalp completely began to peel and flake - it was horrible!
I'd wanted to get a hair cut as soon as possible, as the dark colour of teh dye had shown up all of my split ends, but I had to wait for my scalp to calm.
Luckily, the Lush Kitchen order I'd made on my birthday had come with a sample of Roots Scalp Treatment, so I supposed now was a good a time as ever to use it!
I know a lot of people reviewing this treatment say that they end up using a whole tub just for one application!? Personally i don't see how myself, though as I had to make do with just the sample pot of it the first time I used it, it made me apply it in a way that wasn't wasteful.
I have long hair, but applying it was fairly easy.
I scooped it out of the pot and ran it along my hair parting at the top of my crown using the pads of my fingers.
Then I'd lift the section of hair alongside it and do the same.
One I'd done the top, I'd start to scoop a bit more out and massage it into the back of my head besides my ears, working inwards to spread the product.
Then it was easy to apply to the back of the neck and anywhere else that needed a bit extra.
I shampooed it out after about an hour (I lost track of the time!) and my scalp had no itch at all. The biggest change was in my hair though - it just hung off my head all the better!
I must admit that when I purchased the full sized tub a few weeks ago, I did end up using a bit more than I probably needed, about two sample tub sizes I'd say, just because I could!
Here's me with Roots on:
This time I only had it on about 5 minutes before I jumped into the bath, but in using a little more product I certainly felt the tingle of the mint more.
Despite the short time I gave for the treatment to work, my hair was massively thick for days afterwards, like a lion's mane!
Good job, Lush!
