Traditionally, the Christmas sales used to mean a mad dash out on Boxing Day, getting trampled on by other eager bargain hunters, but now with the rise of online retail, you can sift through the best of the sales with ease.
Most stores will have different types of promotions or discounts in the run up to Christmas, but recently it seems even more stores are launching their big 'SALE' on Christmas Eve. Most online stores launched their sales on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. This was good for me as there are no trains running where I live until the 27th anyway, so anything I wanted to buy in person would probably have gone by then.
Boots sale is where it's at!
They always come up with the major discounts straight away, 50% on most gifts and a third off premium beauty gifts from what I saw online.
Most of the Soap & Glory gifts had sold out online weeks before Christmas anyway, including the one I wanted, Once Upon A Lime. I was waiting to buy it in the sales, as I knew that it would be discounted by 50%.
So I was pretty pleased to snag one from Southport Boots on Saturday 28th at the bargain price of £9 :) The shelves in the gift section were thinning out rapidly even in the 5 minutes I was in there, but there was loads of this set, maybe most people aren't that keen on citrus!?
I had asked my Mum for the Sugar Crush Body Wash for Christmas, so now i'll have a smaller sized back-up!
It comes with a standard size Body Buttercream and a small Body Scrub.
I adore the smell of these Sugar Crush products, they remind me of Opal Fruits! (Old School!)
The scent is similar to the smell of the & Other Stories Body Scrub that Roxy bought me for my Birthday, also called Sugar Crush!
The Soap & Glory scrub smells more basic, like sugar and lemon, whereas the & Other stories scrub smells more caramelised and rich.
I ordered the Dior Holiday Couture Collection Lip and Nail Twin- Set Colours online, it was a third off.
It contains Crème de Rose lipbalm and a shimmer red lipgloss as well as the iconic Rouge 999 lipstick and matching nail polish.
How cute is the little lipbrush!?
The compact itself feels very luxe, with a good sized mirror and tassled zip.
It also came with a little leaflet.
On first impressions, the lipstick wasn't as pigmented as I would like, and as the lipbrush is so tiny it took me forever and many layers to get my lips looking even remotely red and not pink. I found application easier using my fingers and then lining my lips with the brush to sharpen the line. The lipstick had quite a lot of slip, so I think this will be a product i'll dab onto the lips to add colour, rather than wear as a full red lip, so in that respect it will be a good handbag worthy product. I will try seeing what kind of wear I get if I use the lipstick as a cream blush.
Colour wise, when I tried to take a picture of it on me in bright light it just looked like I had a sheer orange lip on! So on me it definitely leans warm.
Very pleased with my sale bits, hopefully i'll have some more things coming in the post soon!
