RiRi Hearts M.A.C Holiday Collection Make-up Bag & Double-Ended Brush 217/239 SE

Hotly anticipated, the Riri Hearts MAC Holiday Collection had many a blogger excited.
Luckily for us UK gals, we avoided the MAC waiting room drama with an exclusive early release via Selfridges.
I wasn't particularly sold on any of the colour cosmetics; I considered Bad Girl Riri Lipstick, but then the Matte formula isn't the most forgiving on me at the best of times, so as it was a very brown colour, I decided to skip.
I bought some accessories instead:

  • Riri Hearts Mac Make-up Bag
  • Riri Hearts Mac Double-ended Brush 217/239 SE

I really like the make-up bag, it's rose gold colour leans more on the pink side, and I think it looks kind of retro like something you'd see in a 60's bathroom! :)
Though compared to other Mac make-up bags I've owned, I can't fit as much in it, I think because the outer material is thicker and harder it doesn't have as much give.

The Double-ended Brush, with a 217 at one end and a 239 at the other.

The brush looks fantastic: white pearl with rose gold metal, featuring a Riri signature.

The 239 is good for 'packing' colour onto the lid, basically pushing colour on to keep it's intensity.
I've been using it mostly to apply eyeshadow under the lower lash line.
It can also be used to smudge liner.

The 217 is an iconic blending brush.
Personally, I'm not all that impressed.  Maybe it's because the SE (Special Edition) brushes are oft speculated to be of a much lower quality than the main line of brushes.  Or perhaps it's just not 'fluffy' enough for a good blend, as some Mac artists prefer using 217's that have been 'broken in'.

The most annoying aspect of the brush is that I can't store it in my cup with all of my other brushes, as one end would get crumpled!
But as I'm not all that impressed with it anyway, I've just been keeping it in my make-up bag as an on-the-go tool.

So although the brush looks pretty, I would definately agree with the consensus that if you want to invest in better brushes, the Mac SE products probably won't be your best bet.
