In all honesty, I didn't think that any of the new face brushes from the bold metals collection would suit me, as I had no need for the pointed foundation brush (I don't wear foundation) plus the arched powder brush seemed too big and fluffy for me, as I like a fuller coverage with powder.
That left the 300 tapered blush brush, which weasled it's way into my boots.com order with a large dose of scarcity hype!
The handle is tapered and weighted too, which really did improve my application.
The brush certainly is visually impressive, in rose gold with a light pink colour running up through the bristles.
A lot of RT fans are probably thinking the same thing, that this isn't much of a blush brush, as it has a quite small head.
I'd say it was more of a highlighter brush.
I actually bought it hoping I'd be able to make it work as a powder foundation brush!
I use the buffing brush to apply my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder usually, though recently I've felt like the density of the bristles means it's very easy to overapply product and even though you can indeed 'buff' the powder out, that motion would disturb my concealing underneath too much.
So I've found the motion I end up doing to apply my face powder is more of a pressing one than a buffing one.
With this in mind, I purchased the tapered blush brush and it's doing the job surprisingly well! :)
It's a lot easier to get into trickier
areas of the face like under my eyes and around my nose and mouth wthout
covering myself in a blanket of powder like I had been doing using the
buffing brush.
Plus, as the bristles are softer with the bold metals line, there's less irration with the application.
It
does take longer to apply my MSFN now, as the head is smaller and I
need to reapply to some areas several times to build the coverage up, but that's been a blessing as now I look a lot more fresh faced and less caked in powder!
The only thing that irks me about this brush is the length of it at 20cm, which is 4cm longer than the buffing brush, so it's a lot harder to fit into my makeup bag.
I do fear it may get a bit squished!
So if you've succumbed to the bold metals hype too and don't quite know what to do with your new brushes, why not try them for a different application like I did? :)

EDIT: My brush broke whilst I was using it! The head broke from the handle :( I could pop the head back on the handle but it would wiggle about when I was applying pressure on it. So I returned it back to Boots for a refund, as at that price it shouldn't have broke after less than 8 weeks!
